Sheet Cake
Debra New's famous cake.
Ingredients
1 stick

oleo

1/2 C

shortening
|
1 C

water
|
4 T

cocoa
|
2 C
|
sugar
|
2 C
|
flour
|
1/2 C
|
buttermilk
|
1 t
|
soda
|
2
|
eggs beaten
|

|
t vanilla
|
1/4 t
|
salt
|

FROSTING
|

|
stick butter
|
4 T
|
cocoa
|
1/3 C
|
milk
|
1 lb
|
powdered sugar
|
1 t
|
vanilla
|
1 C
|
chopped nuts
|
Preparation
- Bring
to a boil the oleo, shortening, water and cocoa.
- Sift sugar and
flour together and add to boiled mixture.
- Add buttermilk and
soda.
- Add remaining ingredients and mix.
- Pour
on buttered cookie sheet and bake 20 min at 400 degrees.
- Start
icing 5 minutes before cake is finished baking.
- Bring to a rolling boil: 1 stick butter, 4 T cocoa, 1/3 C
milk.
- Remove from
heat and add 1 lb. powdered sugar, 1 t vanilla, 1 C chopped nuts.
- Ice while hot.
