Indian Fry Bread

Marlene's recipe

Ingredients

2 C  flour
1/2 C dry milk
2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
2 T shortening
1/2 C  warm water
shortening for frying

Preparation

Combine dry ingredients in deep bowl.  Add 2 T shortening and mix as for pie crust.  Add water and toss together until dough can be gathered into a ball.  Drape bowl with damp towel and let rest at room temp for 2 hours.  Divide dough into 4 equal parts.   Roll into 7 or 8 inch circle and fry.  Top with Green Chile, beans, cheese, lettuce, etc.
