Bread Pudding

Ingredients

2 C stale bread cubed
1 qt. scalded milk
1/2 C sugar
1/2 C melted butter
1/2 C raisins
2 eggs
1/2 t salt
1 t vanilla
1/2 t nutmeg
1/2 C currants or raisins (optional)

Preparation

  1. Soak bread crumbs in milk, let cool, add sugar, butter, eggs slightly beaten, salt, flavoring, raisins and currants.
  2. Bake 1 hour in buttered dish in low oven as for custards.
  3. May be served with chocolate sauce or cream poured over.
